    In business for over 40 years, Sunrise Medical Laboratories is a full service clinical laboratory servicing the New York City metropolitan area and its surrounding communities.​ Our service area covers Long Island, the five boroughs of New York City, Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam Counties, and New Jersey


    The schedule for this position is Tuesday to Saturday 7:00AM -3:30PM


    • Under the general supervision of the department manager/supervisor, a histologist is responsible for working in a manner that maintains patient identity throughout the process of embedding, cutting, staining and coverslipping.
    • This includes setting up their paperwork and specimens for grossing, and routinely embedding, cutting and staining. 
    • They are also responsible for maintaining the tissue processor, embedding centers, microtomes, stainer and coverslipper.
    • They must also check the queue lists and gross lists to ensure accurate orientation during embedding and ensure that any problematic cases be reported to the supervisor before proceeding.
    •  Must maintain an orderly and hygienic work area.     


    •  Medical Laboratory Technologist License from NYS Department of Education  
    • Provisional Medical Laboratory Technologist License from NYS  

    • Department of Education (ASCP examination eligible)        

    •         BS Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science  preferred
