    In business for over 40 years, Sunrise Medical Laboratories is a full service clinical laboratory servicing the New York City metropolitan area and its surrounding communities.​ Our service area covers Long Island, the five boroughs of New York City, Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam Counties, and New Jersey.


    Sunrise is currently seeking a full time Medical Billing Specialist to work within our Billing Customer Service Department.  


    Monday - Friday

    9am to 5:30pm (with some flexibility)



    Bilingual in Spanish, preferred



    • Knowledge of ICD 9 & 10 codes and CPT coding guidelines
    • Familiarity with medical insurance terminology, and third party payer reimbursement policies and procedures
    • Strong computer literacy with good typing skills, 45 words per minute
    • Ability to answer high call volume
    • Provides excellent customer service by demonstrating research, problem solving and follow up skills
    • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve ongoing problems
    • Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills both with internal and external clients
    • Must be a dependable and reliable team player able to work independently and as part of a goal oriented team with a positive attitude
    • Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
    • Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain professionalism and composure
    • Meet or exceed daily production standards
    • Completes special projects as needed
    • Assists team members with various billing tasks as needed
    • To be able to do 10 hours of overtime spread out on the last two weeks of the month


    • HS Diploma
    • Medical Billing Certification
    • Call center experience, a plus
